Mike McDonald has 37 years
coaching and playing experience
in both the USA and the U.K.
Before moving to the States,
he was part of the Watford FC
School of Excellence. Mike has
coached and trained many teams in the East TN area and coached for the Olympic Development Program. Coach Mike runs the Mike McDonald Academy during Spring and Fall for 4-9 year olds. He is the Berean High School boys soccer coach and a children’s church leader at Compassion Church in Morristown.
"I was blessed to have had the opportunity to be coached by Mike from a young age and can say he is such an important piece in where I am today. He always challenged me every session and when training on my own, but he always made soccer fun. Going to his camps and sessions were highlights of my training and I wanted to soak up every ounce of knowledge he had because I knew at a young age I wanted to play professionally. He inspired me to get to this level and still plays an important role in my career today."
Tyler Gibson
Current Professional Soccer Player for Indy Eleven
"I had the privilege to be coached by
Mike for 5+ years, and I can say without hesitation that it was one of the most influential times of my life. He opened
my world up to becoming a soccer
player with opportunities to play at the highest level. He’s not just a coach; he’s an amazing friend. Mike is incredibly wise about the game — he taught me skills, attitude, passion, and integrity on and
off the field."
Mark Sherrod
Former San Jose Earthquakes professional team
"Mike has worked with my son Corey for the past 9 years. He is one of the best soccer coaches in the area. All of the kids at his camps have a blast while learning at the same time. His dedication and knowledge of the sport is tremendous. Thanks to Mike, Corey has attracted interest from two Major League Soccer academies along with a professional academy in UK."
The Hart Family
The Mike McDonald Soccer Academy is a unique idea based on the desire for families to only have one day a week commitment at an early age. We meet on Mondays in the Spring and Fall and our coaches teach the children the fundamental skills needed in a fun games environment! We spend the other half of the time encouraging them to use the skills they have learned in age group scrimmages.
The Academy is for 4-9 yr old boys and girls.
Academy meets at Wayne Hansard Park soccer fields on HWY 160 (1 mile from Alpha McDonald's), 6:15-7:30
I just wanted to to say that Coach MIke Mcdonald worked with my son, Britt Haney, from the time he was 4 years old until he turned 18. Every skill that my son was taught cane from MIke . Not only did he coach him for 12 yrs but he took Britt and his team to England his senior year to play soccer!!! Britt went on to play soccer at West Virginia Wesleyan and is now a Jr. at CNU. We have a family that will never cease to be just that! Our boys have learned much more than soccer from this man! ⚽️⚽️ Please, if you have the chance to let your son or daughter participate in these camps you will be blessed.
